J'ai étais allé au début mais j'avais de la misère à m'y retrouver mais maintenant ça va assez bien. Je vous recopie sur qui a rapport à Pat.

1er janvier Départ:

Patrick Trahan was the first to start today, and all other riders have passed to startline.

2 janvier:

Patrick Trahan (93) was also in a good mood after the special. The tracks remind him of Morocco, were he often travels with groups. "I had good speed and coul ride safe and secure. Only once the GPS came loose, and I had to fix it. In the mountains I picked up a bit more speed, to stay ahead of the quads. The bike is perfect, only a few adjustments to the handlebars and I am 100% happy. I love it!"

3 janvier:

Patrick Trahan (93 in the stage, 91 overall) was luckily today after surviving a high-sider with 120 kmh. His instruments sustained the biggest blow, and were torn to pieces. Patrick himself only had some bruises on his arm and hip. "the first pat of the race was fantastic, I overtook at least 15 other riders. On a straight track I opened the throttle. But it was really slippery and my rear wheel lost grip. Instead of opening the throttle further I closed it, and there I went flying. After some emergency repairs I could continue the race. Without my glasses and most of the instruments I could finish the stage. It is a fair warning to calm down if I want to reach Dakar. That is my goal.

4 janvier:

Due to the heat, the hight and the quality of the fuel it evaporates right from your fueltank. Gerben says his tanks were empty even before CP2. "I asked the locals for fuel, but I don't speak any spanish so that was difficult. Then someone shouted :Hey Gerben, how are you" in Dutch! It was a Argentinan women who spoke Dutch and immediately made some arrangements. Within 3 minutes a guy on a moped appeared. They lifted the moped, turned it around above my fueltank so I had fuel and send me back into the race!" Unfortunately there was no fuel at CP2, so I had to continue. Near CP3 I went looking for fuel again with some locals and with their help managed to reach the finishline. "I had a great day, although I'd rather not have specials like this everyday!"

Mirjam Pol lost a lot of time today.. looking for fuel! She wasn't happy, because this terrain is her party. She didn't crash and could ride as she wanted. "Your bike just sinks in this sand, it was a struggle to get through. My fueltanks were empty in a minute!" While I was waiting for a vaporlock to go away I met a group of quaddrivers. they were watching Dakar, and had 20L fuel with than. They gave it to me, with their businesscards and a request to send e-mail when I get back in the Netherlands. Don't you just love these people?" Also I heard a bike coming from a distance - enginge shutting down and someone get really angry. It was Patrick Trahan who also was out of fuel.

5 janvier:

Patrick Trahan (76 in the stage, 89 overall) had a perfect day. "I wanted to have a day without mistake, which I got!" he smiles. "The sand was quite har, which made it easier. Yesterday I had lost to mch water, but the doctors could help out. I was a bit worried about the long connection and the heights but it all went very well. Not all stages are ths easy, but a day like this is a great help!"

6 janvier:

Patrick Trahan (58 in the stage, 77 overall): "Dust", that's my short summary for the day. It was tough on your body because of the length, but the terrain was easy. I could ride my own speed and did not make too many mistakes. There were a lot of people alongside the tracks who have had to give up because of crashes etc. My rear brake stopped working after a fall, which was another reason to be very carefull".

7 janvier:

Patrick Trahan (54 stage, 65 overall) took off too fast from the start. A handstand on the handlebars was a fair warning to ride slower. "Others passed me, and I let them. I fell once in the fes fes, and had a trouble-free day. I navigated using the compass rahter then the roadbook. While going downhill on the last dune (4 km long), the helicopter flew with me. I hope to see some nice footage when I get home."
